More than 10 years later, L'Oreal decided to sell The Body Shop to Natura of Brazil for £880m. Fast-forward to November 2023, and Natura offloaded it to Aurelia for a fraction of what it paid for it. As The Body Shop was being shunted between different owners, rivals with their own natural brands were emerging.

The Body Shop has been sold to the German owner of Footasylum in a deal worth up to £207 million. The deal sees Brazil's Natura & Co recoup just a fraction of the one billion euros (£872 million at today's exchange rate) that it paid for the cosmetics firm six years ago.

The Body Shop's US operation forced into liquidation as UK parent takes its cash. The U.S. subsidiary ceased operating as of March 1 and told a bankruptcy court it didn't get advance notice of its British owner's restructuring.
